ToggleExtreme performance, tiny form-factor
Until now, most micro storage solutions have been limited in their available performance. Classic microSD cards barely break 100 MB/s for sustained read and write speed, and even the microSD Express cards used in the Nintendo Switch 2 are limited to less than 1,000 MB/s.
Mini SSD blows all of that away with its PCIe 4×2 interface, sequential read speeds up to 3,700 MB/s, and sequential write speeds up to 3,400 MB/s. Random read and write speeds are strong, too, up to 550K and 650K, respectively, making it a great storage solution for gaming and other latency-sensitive tasks. That’s all managed within a tiny storage device that measures just 15 x 17 x 1.4mm. That’s just a tiny bit bigger than microSD Express cards, but with much greater performance and enhanced durability.
Biwin achieved this through the use of Hybrid BGA (FC+WB) packaging technology to integrate the controller and flash memory into a single compact design. The sizing, combined with a modular slot design, enables plug-and-play functionality in a wide range of devices, including handheld gaming systems, laptops, smartphones, tablets, NAS devices, smart displays, and portable SSDs.
Available in capacities from 512 GB up to 2 TB, there’s plenty of scope for different use cases and different styles and tiers of devices. This granularity makes it easy to use Mini SSD to offer different versions of the same device, too, depending on the buyer’s needs.
Small and mighty
Alongside its impressive performance, the Mini SSD is also a very durable storage standard. Its largest capacities have a terabytes written (TBW) rating up to 1500, giving this little storage drive years of operation under normal use conditions.
Thanks to its state-of-the-art packaging technology, the Mini SSD form factor has an IP68 rating, so it’s immune to rain, heavy showers, and even pressure washing and shallow submersion. Dust storms, debris – none of them are a problem for this storage standard, either, making it a great fit for devices designed with durability in mind, as well as flagship devices where those kinds of features are a given. It’s also resistant to shocks and impacts, so it can withstand the kind of rough day-to-day use that some devices are put through.
It can effectively operate in a wide range of temperatures, too, rated from -40 up to +85 degrees C. That allows it to run in more demanding devices, as well as work well in different environments around the world.
For additional assurance about reliability, Biwin offers a three-year warranty with every Mini SSD.
From Innovation to Industrial Deployment
Recognized by TIME as one of the Best Inventions of 2025, BIWIN Mini SSD marks a critical transition from form-factor innovation to industrial-ready storage technology. For edge-AI device manufacturers and system integrators, this transition is realized through the BIWIN BL100 Mini SSD, the industry-grade implementation of the Mini SSD platform.
BIWIN BL100 delivers full NVMe SSD-class performance in an ultra-mini footprint while meeting the requirements of long-term availability, system-level qualification, and environmental reliability. The Mini SSD has already been deployed in commercially available devices, including gaming PCs and handheld gaming consoles from leading device manufacturers such as OneXPlayer Super X, OneXPlayer X1 Air, OneXFly Apex, and GPD WIN 5.
The same Mini SSD architecture is also deployed through the Biwin CL100, a consumer-branded product that brings identical hardware performance into a complete, user-accessible solution. Paired with the RD510 Mini SSD Reader, CL100 enables external, plug-and-play Mini SSD usage across PCs, handheld gaming systems, and mobile platforms, exposing the technology to high-intensity real-world workloads such as gaming, content creation, and large data transfers.
Driven by increasingly data-intensive workloads at the edge, Mini SSD offers a compact, high-performance storage foundation validated for next-generation AI-enabled systems.
